Winter is coming and the outdoor temperature is dropping. During the winter months, cold outside weather combined with dry indoor heat can wreak havoc on your strands.

Cold, dry winter weather is essentially your skin’s worst enemy.

Unsurprisingly, it’s not so friendly to your hair either. These external factors alter our skin and hair properties as they robustly respond to these seasonal changes.

Hair becomes dry and frizzy due to the lack of low moisture content, and day-to-day manageability becomes difficult, and maintaining the desired hairstyle gets extremely hard.

At low humidity, hair loses water molecules causing severe dryness which may get worst causing structural damage along the hair shaft.

As the temperature drops, it can lead to skin dryness and irritation, and it can suck the moisture out of your strands, making them more susceptible to split ends and breakage.

With that said, I’m sharing my 2020 winter haircare arsenal to help protect and keep your hair healthy during the winter season.

My winter haircare arsenal of hair products.

Righteous Roots Oils

Winter requires a special hair care regimen to address frizz and dryness due to lower humidity and freezing conditions.

A natural lipophilic emollient is the right option for winter. My pick of oil to use during the winter is Righteous Roots Oils. It is a blend of natural hair care oils ensuring superior detangling, emollience, and fiber protection.

Coconut oil is employed as the formulation base delivering other vital fatty acids of the product.

Jamaican Black Castor Oil provides the desired sensorial touch due to its unsaturated fatty acid content.

Argan oil brings additional benefits nourishing the scalp as well as hair fiber. The formulation assures significantly improved hair and scalp health! Truly, a must-have for your winter haircare arsenal.

The product can either be massaged to the scalp surface or applied to hair fibers. You may also use it as a pre-poo treatment, pre-wash detangler, hot oil treatment, or add a few drops to your favorite deep conditioner for extra TLC.

Ingredients: COCOS NUCIFERA OIL (COCONUT), RICINUS COMMUNIS (JAMAICAN BLACK CASTOR OIL), OLEACEAE OIL (OLIVE), PERSEA AMERICANA MILL OIL (AVOCADO), VITIS VINIFERA OIL (GRAPESEED), SESAMUM INDICUM OIL (SESAME), MENTHA PIPERITA OIL (PEPPERMINT), MELALEUCA ALTERNIFOLIA LEAF OIL (TEA TREE), SIMMONDSIA CHINENSIS SEED OIL (JOJOBA), ARGANIA SPINOSA OIL (ARGAN), ROSMARINUS OFFICINALIS OIL (ROSEMARY).

Gold Rawkyn Scalp Scrub

Our skin continuously undergoes biochemical changes, older cells die and new cells are formed. The layer of dead cells accumulates with time and forms a rigid outer layer on all of the skin, particularly facial areas. This dead cell layer sullies the skin surface and makes it dull.

We need to remove these dead cells, which can be done by using a scrub to erode the dead skin cells with physical and mechanical work.

My choice for this is the Gold RawKyn Scalp scrub. The scalp’s surface greatly affects the overall quality of our hair, as healthy hair begins with a healthy scalp.

The scrub is a blend of natural oils that relieves scalp nerves, boosts blood circulation to the area, and helps eradicate any dandruff or product residue from the scalp surface.

It provides a cozy sensation due to its Rosemary Oil blended with Apple Cider Vinegar. Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride provides a non-sticky lipid layer while sucrose flushes loads of water molecules to the new cells for their smooth growth.

Mane Method Repair Hair Mask

This Repair Hair Mask aims to deliver intense moisture to severely damaged hair fibers. I recently discovered this product and had great results after the initial use.

The product formulation comprises a combination of two natural oils formulated to address hair dryness especially during harsh cold and dry winter conditions.

It contains Batana oil which is a unique emollient extracted from the nuts of American Palm, native to Central and South American countries.

The mixture of Batana and castor oil protects hair fibers against dry and cold conditions by forming a delicate thin and water-repellent coating at the hair surface.

Moreover, castor oil due to its ALL-Unsaturated composition offers an amazing sensorial feel during application. This fatty acid-rich formulation adds a vibrant gloss with evenly nourished and moisturized hairs.

The formulation particularly targets frizz caused by low outdoor humidity and freezing temperature conditions. For this winter, this is a must-have remedy for frizzy hair. This product is like butta!

Ingredients: Batana oil (Elaeis Oleifera), Castor oil (Ricinus Communis), Vanilla Sweet Orange essential oil.

Honey Rawkyn Deep Conditioning Co Wash

Deep Conditioning Co wash undertakes two vital tasks, it gently cleanses hair fibers as well as conditions them simultaneously.

The Rawkyn Deep Conditioning Co Wash is formulated with cationic surfactants blended with multiple moisturizing and conditioning agents that offer unique benefits to hair health significantly improving hair.

Gentle cleansing action does not strip natural hair lipids. The product is particularly great to use during the winter season to address the cold, dry, and low humidity conditions.

Winter has a significant impact on our hair health and we need a customized product that can specifically address this issue.

Stearamidopropyl dimethylamine is a cationic amine employed here that is neutralized with lactic acid and glutamic acid. It effectively removes the undesired build-up materials, debris, and excess sebum from the hair shaft.

At the same time, stearamidopropyl dimethylamine detangles hair fibers, aligns the cuticles, and facilitates combing by reducing fiber-to-fiber friction.

The Rawkyn Honey is loaded with humectants flushing loads of moisture to address scalp dryness. With Glycerin, Sorbitol, and Beet sugar derived Betaine, your hair is sure to improve its moisture content, as these ingredients have an immense water-holding capacity.

Therefore, with the super moisturizing ingredients, it will boost the hair water level and efficiently address the dry and freezing winter conditions.

Bouncecurl Turmeric Hair Detox Mask

Just like skin, your scalp is affected by your lifestyle, the seasons, and any other products you use. We tend to think that silicones, oils, polyquats, etc. build up on the hair, BUT, conditioning ingredients have the potential to build upon the hair as well.

And, just because you don’t load up on styling products doesn’t mean your hair is immune to build-up. If you find your hair becoming stringy, dull, rough, overly soft, spider-webby, limp, dry, flat, weighed down, unusually frizzy, or just a generally weird feeling, then you need the Bouncecurl Turmeric Hair Detox Mask.

Hair care products contain polymeric conditioners, proteins (sometimes), and cationic surfactants that strongly bind to negatives sites of the hair fiber.

These chemicals stick to the hair fiber and the repeated application cause a build-up. Accumulation of these molecules changes the surface properties of hair fiber and alters its natural outlook, sensory feels, and shine. We need to remove this build-up.

This problem gets worse in winter due to low humidity and freezing temperature inducing frizz and dryness on the hair and scalp.

The Bouncecurl Turmeric Hair Detox Mask specifically addresses this problem by targeting the molecular build-up and restoring hair’s natural volume, body, and texture.

This formulation is all-natural and does not contain any unnecessary ingredients. The turmeric root oil is part of the traditional Indian Ayurvedic regimen with strong anti-inflammatory potential.

Apple cider vinegar provides a buffering capacity facilitating the dissolution of deposited polymers and cationic surfactants. Green tea extract, glycerin, and Aloe leaf juice deliver the moisture content to address winter dryness.

Tea tree, Eucalyptus, and Rosemary oils are known for their positive physiological impact because of their special aromatic composition. They stimulate nerves and facilitate blood circulation promoting a healthy effect averting scalp dryness.

I highly recommend trying the Detox Mask this winter to prevent frizzy dry hair and scalp inflammation. You will love it! To get a discount, use my code ‘muse’ at the checkout.

The formulation contains Stearamidopropyl Dimethylamine, Behentrimonium Methosulfate, and Cetrimonium Chloride which are cationic hair conditioners. They give the desired hair detangling, ease of combing, and more importantly, decrease any static charge present along the hair shaft.

Malibu C Hard Water Wellness Shampoo

Winter brings significant changes to our hair care practices. Hair requires special attention, care, and customized products for winter times.

More importantly, if you are using hard water in winter times, hair may get severe metal buildup leading to dull and weighed down hairs.

Hard water contains significantly higher levels of calcium and magnesium ions and they may stick to the hair’s amino acid sites during washing.

We need to avoid these metal ions and prevent their progressive build-up at the hair surface. The Malibu Hard Water Shampoo is a solution to this problem.

The product is a sulfate-free formulation and hence offers a gentle formula. It contains Disodium EDTA and Sodium gluconate that chelates (captures) these metal ion and remove them during the subsequent rinse off stage.

Therefore, it improves the overall hair health features and gives our hair that glossy vibrancy that is easy to manage and style.

Get rid of metal this winter and avoid frizzy hair due to metals. I strongly recommend this hard water shampoo to do the job of keeping your hair healthy.
